• 8 slices sandwich bread or country bread
• 200 g cooked chicken breast (roasted, grilled, or shredded)
• 4 tbsp whole-grain mustard
• 100 g grated Gruyère or Emmental
• 100 ml crème fraîche or light béchamel
• 1 tsp honey (optional)
• Butter for spreading
• Black pepper, herbs (thyme or chopped parsley)
Preparation:
Prepare mustard cream
Mix crème fraîche, whole-grain mustard, pepper, and honey (optional).
Add sliced or shredded chicken.
Assemble
Spread chicken-mustard mixture on 4 bread slices.
Sprinkle cheese, reserving some for topping.
Cover with remaining bread slices.
Butter the outside surfaces.
Cook
Stovetop: cook 3–4 min per side over medium heat until golden.
Oven: top with remaining cheese and bake at 200°C for 10–12 min until melted and browned.
Serve with a green salad or crunchy raw vegetables.
